Marsha’s in town.  And guess who she brought with her.

Hey there cubetree, happy to see you again too.

Green Tomatoes

Or: Reasons Why It Doesn’t Completely Suck to Go Back To Work:IMG_20131022_093613
Green tomatoes from my coworker (because before I left for maternity leave I was talking about how I wanted to make fried green tomatoes.)   Nice.

I used to hate this door.  I made fun of it regularly and often talked about putting a picture of Spike on there.  I didn’t understand why I had to be assaulted by everyone’s grandbaby pictures every time I went into the kitchen.

But then I came back from being gone and someone in the office had printed a monster sized picture of my baby’s head and stuck it in the middle of the door.  Hammerhead dominates the kitchen door. Anybody going into the kitchen is totally assaulted by her 10-minute-old face.  Now I hate it less.  I actually kind of love it.

Oh hey there XXX cubetree, nice to see you again.

And finally, I had never realized how enjoyable it can be listening to music and filing 2 months worth of emails uninterrupted.  I really appreciated that on Monday.  It’s since lost a little bit of its shine, but still.  Uninterrupted time is nice.

…and with that, week #1 DONE.  Happy weekend!

What’s up

July 31, 2012 § 2 Comments

My coworker is out of town for a week.  Me and my XXX cubetree are fishsitting for him while he’s gone.   Come back from traveling to all sorts of responsibility.  Life is rough.

In other news, guess who passed boards and started rotations.

…and guess who doesn’t care in the background.  His first round is OB/GYN, so he’ll be getting to deal with all sorts of prolapsed whathaveyou and whatnot.  I’m hoping his notes from boards that I found laying on his desk one day will help him out.

This has been a busy summer for me.  The past few weekends have looked something like this:

my namesake on the dancefloor at my cousin’s wedding in boston

denver

san diego

carmel

ben’s chili bowl, 3am, washington dc

I am not complaining.  At all.  This past weekend in DC celebrating Kristin’s 30th was amaze.  But I am tired.  And the Olympics won’t let me go to bed before midnight.  But there’s nothing that can be done about that, it’s just going to be a minimal sleep week.

Speaking of the Olympics, I am really hoping that Lochte getting trounced on the anchor leg of the 4 x 100 free relay and again in the 200 free will be enough for him to ditch the grill on the podium.  Bring the tool factor down a notch.

Etc, etc

Based on FB stalking, it looks like this weekend was full of beautiful weather pretty much everywhere, multiple weddings (including Mark Zuckerberg), and a solar eclipse.

I spent much of it here:

The transition area of Memphis in May…which was actually held in Tunica, MS.  I don’t get it either.

The race location was a hop, skip, and drive through the ghetto away from downtown Memphis.  Not that close.  So, the moral of the story is we didn’t get to partake in the MiM events.  Sad.

We did, however, have this on site:

Oh yes.  Welcome to Mississippi.

Once the pics come back I’ll do an update on the double header race weekend. Until then, I’m going to start figuring out what I need to get done before Hawaii (I fly out in 9 DAYS) and continue to wear my compression socks to work.

Cute, I know.

In other news, I came back to my cube today to find my little cubetree had sprouted a new appendage.

Hmm.  Awkward.

Happy Monday.
